Program Description

The Utah County Health Dept. requires all food related businesses to have at least 1 person with this certification. Renewal is required every 3 years.

The ServSafe program helps prepare students for the culinary industry and for the ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification exam by covering the following topics: The importance of food safety, good personal hygiene, time and temperature control, preventing cross-contamination, cleaning and sanitizing, safe food preparation, receiving and storing food, methods of thawing, cooking, cooling and reheating food, HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points), food safety regulations, and more. Classes are in English. Testing is available in English, Spanish, Chinese, and Korean.

Classes are held the 1st Monday and Tuesday of each month from 1:30-4:30 pm. Both days are required. The test is the last hour of the 2nd day. Testing alone can be scheduled as needed. Call Student Services at 801-753-4101 or if you have questions, Nancy Weller at 801-753-4166
